About The Author

Dr. Deepali Tewari is working as Subject Matter Specialist/Assistant Professor (Horticulture) at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. She has done her Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Vegetable Science from GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. She was awarded the best Ph.D. award by Government of U.P. for the year 2001. Before joining this university, for more than two years, she worked as "Programme Manager" in a World Bank project "Diversified Agriculture Supporting Project (DASP)" at U.P. Council of Agricultural Research handling 59 projects spread all over Uttarakhand and U.P. During her 14 years tenure at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, she worked for development of farmers at grass root level (Krishi Vigyan Kendras) as well as at headquarters (co-ordinating development activities of 11 KVKs under the aegis of university). In her eight years into academics, she taught graduates as well post-graduate students. She has been assigned as Co-PI in four research projects funded by DST, DBT and ICAR. Her areas of interest include vegetable production and improvement, rural development, women empowerment and application of ICT in agricultural development. Dr. Ajit Kumar is working as Senior Floriculturist/Associate Professor (Horticulture) at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. He graduated from H.P. Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur. He obtained his M.Sc. Horticulture (Floriculture and Landscaping) with first class and Ph.D. Horticulture (Floriculture and Landscaping) with first class from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa New Delhi. He has specialization in floriculture and landscaping, plant tissue culture and medicinal and aromatic plants as well and did his research work during M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Central Tissue Culture Laboratory, National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology, I.A.R.I., Pusa, New Delhi. He has an experience for over 14 years in teaching, research and extension work in horticulture. He guided twelve students for post graduate degrees in Horticulture. He has to his credit 25 research papers published in national and international journals and 21 book chapters. He is life member of over seven professional societies and Research Advisory Committee Member of Herbal Research and Development Institute, Mandal, Gopeshwar, Government. of Uttarakhand and Centre for Aromatic Plants, Selaqui, Dehradun, Government. of Uttarakhand. He had been also assigned the additional responsibility of Assistant Director cum Officer Incharge of Medicinal Plants Research and Development Centre of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar. He got international award of Certificate of Reviewing Award by The Editors of Industrial Crops & Products, Elsevier, Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Best Paper Presentation Award by the Horticultural Society of India during 2016. Dr. Shailaja Punetha is working as Teaching Associate (Vegetable Science) at Rani Laxmi Bai Central Agriculture University, Jhansi. She has done her Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Vegetable Science from GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. She has specialization in molecular markers as she did her research work on ISSR markers for diversity analysis in cucumber. Before joining this university, for more than two years, she worked as "Teaching and Research Personnel" in Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, Bharsar, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. She has an experience for over two years in teaching, research and extension work. During her two years tenure at Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, Bharsar, she taught more than eight courses to under graduate and post graduate students. She guided six students as a co-chairman for post graduate degrees in vegetable science. She has been also assigned the additional responsibility of Officer In-charge of vegetable production farm of UUHF, Bharsar.
