His salient contributions include research in Integrated Pest Management in oilseed, pulse, vegetable crops, disease forecasting (including by use of Remote Sensing), host resistance to crop diseases, etc. He has mentored 5 PhD, 7 MSc students. Dr. Rashid Pervez working as Senior Scientist at Indian Institute of Spices Research, Calicut (Kerala) on the management of insect pests of spices crops through entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN). He has made significant contributions to science and agriculture in the field of plant protection specially management of nematodes and insect pests infesting pulse and spice crops from past 15 years. He started the research work at AMU, Aligarh in 1993 on the biological control of nematodes. Dr. Pervez innovative research on behaviour and biological control of nematodes has yielded him M. Phil. and Ph. D. degrees in 1995 and 1999, respectively Two heat tolerant new species of EPN and 5 new species of EPN have been described. One new artificial media based on low cost and locally available ingredients has been synthesized for the mass production of the entomopathogenic nematodes. Dr. Rashid has been Principal Investigator and Co PI of the various Projects funded by ICAR, DST and Kerala Government. He guided 7 M. Sc. students.
