Since AIDS is one of the major epidemic diseases of India. India is the third largest country in world, which has HIV epidemic. In 2013, HIV prevalence in India was estimated 0.3%. The number of HIV positive patients are increasing day-by-day. Ancient science plays an important role in this disease, proven by many researches. Alternative Therapies do not endorse any particular system or method but promotes the evaluation and appropriate use of all effective therapeutic approaches. The authors encourage the integration of evidence-based emerging therapies with conventional medical practices. Authors are following this principle by using alternative therapies in this book. They did the research regarding the effectiveness of selected combinations of alternative therapy is delaying the development of AIDS or delaying the progression of disease before AIDS develops. About The Author

Dr. Veenita Sharma is a clinical psychologist. She passed B.Sc. (Bio) in 2001 and M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology (2004) from Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidhalya, Haridwar. She was done internship in K.G.M.U., Lucknow under the guidance of Dr. Krishna Dutt, Deptt of Psychiatry, K.G.M.U. She was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in clinical psychology from D.S.V.V. in 2009. She has gained the experience in the field of HIV/AIDS, being a counselor from Delhi AIDS Control Society. She has also experienced in teaching field, as guest lecturer in physiotherapy Deptt. from IAMR College, GZB. Moreover, she has attended and participated many seminars and workshops and written the article on tobacco control. She has made psychological test for depression, published by Agra Psychological Research Cell, Agra. Dr. Pranav Pandya [(Gold Medalist in Medicine (MD)], qualified from U.S. Medical Services in 1975. But, inspired by his Guru seer-sage Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, he gave up the lucrative offer and stayed in India for altruistic cause. He gave up his job with BHEL as the in-charge of ICU (Cardiology) and joined the Yug Nirman Mission at Shantikunj as the Director, Brahmavarchas Research Institute in 1978. He initiated path-breaking research studies on Ayurveda, Psychology, Yagyopathy and therapeutic benefits of Meditation and Pranayam was carried out. He carried out deep study and research in Indian Scriptures and coauthored many books on scientific spirituality in close proximity of Acharyaji. As the global head, he established branches of the Gayatri Pariwar in 80 countries. In continuance of his efforts he has presented scientific aspect of Indian Culture to the Parliament of Worlds’ Religions in 1993. He has addressed joint session of House of Lords and House of Commons in UK in February 1992. His untiring efforts manifested into a unique University of Indian Culture. Established in the year 2002 through an ordinance by Uttaranachal Government and recognized by UGC, this University, the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyala, is being developed on the lines of ancient Gurukulas of Nalanda and Taxila. Dr. Pranav Pandya is a shining example of a Holistic Purposeful selfless life lived in the true Vedic spirit. He has attended /organized number of conferences/workshops and seminars in India and abroad. He has also received number of prestigious national and international awards.
