Veterinarians prevent, diagnose and treat diseases, disorders and injuries in animals. Workers who do this for humans include audiologists, chiropractors, dentists, optometrists, physicians, podiatrists, and speech pathologists. Other occupations that involve working with animals include animal trainers, zoologists, marine biologists, naturalists and veterinary technicians. As medical technology has changed for humans, it has also changed for animals. Now, working in the field of veterinary medicine is a skilled position that requires expertise far above the ability to muck out a stall or clean out a cage. A Veterinary Technician can perform diagnostic tests, dress wounds and assist in surgery. A veterinary assistant handles clients and records and assists with basic medical care. Dr. Vidya Sagar, presently working as Associate Professor/ Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ambedkar Nagar, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya (U.P.). He obtained his graduate degree in discipline of Agriculture in 1993, Post Graduate degree in Animal Science with specialization in Livestock Production and Management in 1997 and Ph.D. in Animal Science discipline from Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya in year 2000. Dr. Sagar qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) in the Subject of Livestock Production and Management (LPM) from Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, New Delhi in 1998. Dr. Sagar has over 15 years in teaching experience, research and extension of transferring the latest technologies related to agriculture and animal husbandry at farmers’ fields through organizing the skill oriented trainings, Front Line Demonstrations, On-Farm Testing on farmers’ fields and integrated to farmers with poultry, dairy, goat and pig, fish farming and organic farming to enhance the income. He was Member of Organized Committee of National Seminar on "Indian Agriculture and Rural Development in Changing Global Scenario” organized by KVK, Institute of Agriculture Sciences, RGSC, BHU, Barkachha, Mirzapur, U.P. on 07th, February, 2014. Dr. Sagar has published more than 152 research papers/articles in various International/National Journals and Magazines, 18 book chapters, 11 training manuals. He is a life member of various societies. He received many National and International awards. He is editor of two Magazines Sonanchal Krishi and Vikash ki Ranhe.
