The objective of this book is to make the fundamental concepts of cytogenetics and Molecular biology and to give an update account of the relevant topics. The topics have been carefully chosen to help students achieve learning objective. Many special features are included to make the book user friendly. Based on our own experiences in teaching cytogenetics and Molecular Biology, they have been implemented and found to be effective in the classroom. The book is eminently suitable for undergraduate and postgraduate students of botany, agriculture, zoology and biotechnology for courses in genetics/genetics and cytogenetics.
About The Author
Dr. Satish K. Sharma presently working as In-charge, Seed
Production Farm Chakroi, SKUAST-Jammu, Directorate of
Research, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and
Technology Jammu. He did M.Sc. in Agriculture Biochemistry
from AAI, Allahabad, U.P. and Ph.D. (Plant Biochemistry) from
SHIATS, Allahabad, U.P. He started his career as Junior Scientist
(Plant Biochemistry) in 2008 in the Biotechnology Centre, Faculty
of Agriculture, SKUAST-Jammu, J&K. He has been published more
than 50 research publications including research papers,
extension bulletin, research articles and one book.
Dr. Anil Kumar Singh is currently working as Associate Professor
(Biotechnology) in the School of Biotechnology, Sher-e-Kashmir
University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu,
Chatha, Jammu. He did his Master’s as M.E. in Biotechnology
from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Rajasthan
and Ph.D. in Botany from V.B.S. Purvanchal University, Jaunpur,
(U.P.). He is specialised in the field of Plant and Agricultural
Biotechnology. Earlier he worked as Research Associate in Indian
Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi (U.P.) for a period of five
years. He has published 24 research papers in both National and International
journals. He has great interest in teaching Plant Biotechnology, Agricultural
Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering for students at both UG
and PG levels. He is an editorial board member of two journals. He is also a recognized
research guide from reputed universities.
Dr. Mamta Sharma is currently working as Senior Research
Fellow at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and
Technology of Jammu, Chatha, Jammu. She has obtained her
Master’s degree in Biotechnology from Dr. Y. S. Parmar University
of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (Himachal Pradesh)
and Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Shoolini University of
Biotechnology and Management Sciences, Solan (Himachal
Pradesh). She has great interest in research in the field of plant
tissue culture, Molecular Biology, Microbial biotechnology,
Enzyme Technology and Genetic Engineering. She has twenty
research papers and a book chapter to her credit.
