The book focuses on the technical, organizational and policy aspects of library automation, emphasizing the information/policy needed by librarians for informed decisions on automated systems and network services, to maximize the positive effects of these technologies on library organizations. The book introduces all aspects of library automation and networking in detail. This book appraises library and information professionals in order to develop their level of competency and understanding of the changes in technology so that they can advocate for adopting the same to make improvement in the services of library and information centers.

Dr. Kailash D. Tandel, is currently working as Assistant Librarian, (Assistant Professor equivalent), Vanbandhu College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry and I/c University Librarian, University Library, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari. He completed his B.L.I.Sc. with first rank from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, Gujarat, He completed his M.L.I.Sc. with first rank From Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat and obtained his M.Phil (Library Science) with first rank and Ph.D (Library Science) degree from S.P.University, Vallabh Vidhyanagar, Gujarat. He has obtained M.Com. degree from Garda College, Navsari, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat Gujarat. Dr.Tandel has 13 years of experience in Library and Information Science area and presented many papers in seminars/conferences. He has participated in several workshops and training programmes too. He has also organized State Level seminar and National Level workshop. His areas of interest are library Automation, Library Networking, Information System and Service, Library Management, Library Classification, Digital Library and Collection Building of e-Resources in Libraries.
