In the recent years, microfinance has increased attentions of people around the world for fighting the problems of poverty and unemployment. Two different approaches have been identified for the evolution of the microfinance industry such as the Latin American model and the South-Asian model. The South-Asian model is largely based on Groups. In this direction, this book examines the functioning of group based microfinance intervention in India. It is specially addressed for academicians, businessmen, financial institutions and policymakers engaged in the area of microfinance world. This book covers a wide area from the starting concepts of microfinance to the advanced level knowledge needs for the researchers. The interpretation of results of survey is kept as simple as possible so that an ordinary student in the field of microfinance can make use of this book. A logical based discussion has been tried to make for better understanding of the subject matter.
About The Author
Dr. Surender Ahlawat is Assstant Professor in the department of Economics at Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa. He is actively engaged in research and popularization of Economic Theory. He was conferred Ph.D. Degree in Economics by Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh. He holds eight years of teachingexperience in two prominent universities of Haryana viz. Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa and DDE, Maharashi Dayanand University, Rohtak. He has to his credit twenty research papers in reputed National and International Journals besides the experience of deliberations in six international and thirteen national conferences/ seminars/workshops. His areas of interest include microfinance, financial economics etc. He has also participated in Face in Space Program of STS-133, NASA, USA.
