This book has specifically been written for undergraduate students; however, it shall be beneficial for graduate students and teachers also. The book is structured as per requirements of new syllabus prescribed by Veterinary Council of India. The language of the book has been kept simple to enable undergraduate students to understand the basic and applied aspects of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. To augment learning and for revision practice questions have been incorporated at the end of each chapter.

Dr. Ajay Kumar Upadhyay presently Professor, Department of Veterinary, Public Health and Epidemiology, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand did his pre- graduation from S.K. Inter College, Alalhabad that has a very rich galaxy of alumni. He did his graduation in the year 1986 from College of Veterinary Sciences, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, post-graduation from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly and Ph.D. from the graduating institute. He has more than 25 years of teaching experience and successfully guided 16 Post graduate and three Ph.D. students. He has handled more than 15 research projects. He is member of number of professional societies. He has published more than 100 research papers and 90 articles in national and international journals of repute. He has written nine books, five booklets, eight chapters, 40 leaflets and folders and seven laboratory manuals. He has earned more than 15 honours and awards related with professional work and fellow of Academy of Sciences for Animal Welfare. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, M.V.Sc, Ph.D. is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Pantnagar. He is having over 12 years of experience in teaching, research, extension and administration. In addition to Veterinary Microbiology, he has experience of teaching Veterinary Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology for nine years. Dr. Kumar has published over 75 research, semi-research, review and technical articles. He has also contributed as member of editorial board, reviewer for various national and international journals. He has handled/handling five externally funded research projects and has guided/guiding one Ph.D. and six M.V.Sc. students.
