Biodiversity is the very basis of human survival. It has great economic, aesthetic and spiritual values. However, in the recent years, there has been a great loss to our biodiversity due to climate change and various anthropogenic activities. This has compelled us to make urgent and serious steps for biodiversity conservation. Biodiversity conservation is a global issue and biodiversity loss affects each and every one. Both in situ and ex situ methods of biodiversity conservation are equally important. The traditional beliefs and practices, too, can play an important role in biodiversity conservation. In addition to various conventional methods of conservation, new strategies need to be developed. This book is a collection of articles and research papers on biodiversity conservation. The main objective of this book is to make common people aware about the need of biodiversity conservation and to find out new strategies for the better conservation of biodiversity.

Dr. Dushyant Kumar Sharma is working as Professor of Zoology at Government Model Science College, Gwalior, M.P. He has been working in Department of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh since 1993. He did B.Sc. Zoology (Hons.) from Hindu College, University of Delhi, Delhi and received his M.Sc. and M. Phil degrees from University of Delhi, Delhi. Dr. Sharma obtained his Ph.D. degree from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra, U.P. Besides teaching, he is actively engaged in research. His main areas of interest are biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, hematology and environmental sciences. He has authored books on Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology and edited three books on Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences. He is a co-author of two books on Civil Services Preliminary Exams. He has contributed several research papers in various national and international journals. He is a member of Editorial Boards of Indian Journal of Scientifi c Research and Indian Journal of Life Sciences. Dr. Sharma is a life member of The Indian Science Congress Association and Global Academic Society of India.
