The present book in the student-teacher friendly format is a firsteditionon“Fundamentals of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia”, keeping in mind the requirements of the present day competition-oriented scenario. The course content in the book is so graded according to the guidelines of Veterinary Council of India and Indian Council of Agricultural Research syllabi, should be of special interest to undergraduate/postgraduate students, internists, clinician, anaesthetics, practicing veterinarian to gain a working knowledge of the basic principles of veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia, which are called upon to treat/manage an unfamiliar species. Dr. M.M. Ansari is currently working as Associate Professor/Senior Scientist and imparting teaching, research, extension & clinical activities at SKUAST-Kashmir.. He completed his PhD as major subject in Vet. Surgery & Radiology with Vet. Pharmacology, Vet. Medicine as minor subjects from IVRI, Izatnagar. He has also qualified and received certificates of NET and ICAR-SRF (PGS) from ASRB, ICAR, New Delhi and NAARM, Hyderabad respectively. He has over 15 years of experience of teaching, research, extension education and administration. During this period he has served College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences at India’s foremost Agricultural University GBPUAT, Pantnagar. He has extended his services as consultant to the Zoological Park; Pet Clinic, Patna and World Bank funded Project DASP, Uttarakhand. Dr. Ansari has become the first scientist from Jammu and Kashmir to get Fellow by the Academy of Sciences for Animal Welfare, recognized by the AWBI under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, GoI, in recognition of outstanding contribution for advancement of science and welfare. He has been honored with various national and international awards. He has guided 22 BVSc & AH, 5 MVSc and has been a member of Advisory committee for MVSc and Ph.D students in different disciplines. He has been actively associated with many scientific journals of repute as Editor-in-Chief/Technical Editor/Associate Editor/ Reviewer. To his credit he has published more than 100 publications in various National/International journals of repute, authored and edited 4 books, edited 3 compendia,1 booklet, 9 chapters in books, presented more than 50 paper abstracts in annual symposia/conferences.
