About The Author

Dr. Hemlata Pant, presently working as an assistant professor in the Department of Zoology at C.M.P. P.G. College (University of Allahabad), Prayagraj (U.P.), India. She obtained her M.Sc. (Zoology) and D.Phil. degrees from the University of Allahabad, Prayagraj (U.P.). She has more than 19 years of research and teaching experience in the fields of nematology, post-harvest diseases of guava, and their management by different plant extracts, yeast, and mushroom cultivation techniques. She has published 70 research papers, 135 popular articles, and 30 book chapters. She has edited or is the author of 25 important books on emerging issues. Dr. Pant is a fellow of ten reputed societies. She got the “Jagdiesh Chandra Bose Hindi GranthLekhan” Award from DBT, Govt. of India, New Delhi. She is chief editor of a journal (Journal of Natural Resource and Development) and editor of a popular Hindi magazine (GrameenVikasSandesh). Dr. Pant is on the editorial board of the “Annals of Plant Protection Sciences Journal”, New Delhi, and co-editor of the “Journal of Fisheries Sciences” (Mangalore). Dr. Pant has delivered 40 radio and TV talks. She has completed two research projects funded by DST, Govt. of India, New Delhi. She is working on the CSTUP, Lucknow grant project on: Nematodes are used as biomonitoring agents to analyse the soil health status of the River Ganga and Yamuna at Prayagraj. One student enrolled for a D.Phil. under her supervision. Dr. D. Prasad retired as Prof. and Head, I.A.R.I., has 40 years of research and teaching experience in the field of nematology in particular and plant protection in general. He has published more than 246 research papers, 100 abstracts presented in symposia of national and international repute and 95 chapters in various books. Dr. Prasad is known for his research contributions in nematode management on groundnut and soybean and developed IPM nodule for root knot nematode on groundnut. He also worked on environmentally safe pesticides, developed and tested two new molecules for control of nematodes and hence patented, and received HARDF Award 1994, fellow of Several Societies won many prestigious award of Societies and Agril. Universities. Dr. Prasad has written/edited books namely Environment Pollution - Air, Water, Land, Radiation, Solid Waste, Thermal, Soil Environment & Pesticides, Potential IPM Tactics, Ecofriendly Pest Suppression, Crop Pest and Disease Management, Advances in Plant Protection Sciences, Crop Protection: Management Strategies, Sustainable Pests Management, Insect Pest and Disease Management, Sustainable Crop Protection Strategies (2 volumes) and Crop Protection, Conservation and Diversity (2 volumes) during the past few years. He founded a Society of Plant Protection Sciences in 1992 which publishes six monthly Journal “Annals of Plant Protection Sciences”. L. Sobita Simon is Professor and Head in the Department of Plant Pathology and Entomology in Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj (UP). She received her B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture from Allahabad University. She completed her M.Sc. & PhD in Nematology from University of Allahabad in the year 1990. She completed her Post Doc. in the year 1996 From Zhongshan University P.R. of China. Dr. Sobita has taught a variety of courses, including Nematology, Molecular Plant Pathology and Biological control in the field of Agriculture Science. She has also mentored many students on research projects in her laboratory. Early in her carrier she completed various project under the Central and state governments. She has received several awards for research and teaching, including the National Carrier Award 2004, Women Agriculture Scientist Award 2016. She has published approx. 250 papers in national and international journals and authored 5 books. For more than 30 years, she is active teaching, academics and research.
